The French Riviera

 

DAY 01: ROME - MILAN

Please be on time at Roma Termini train station in order to check the right platform and schedule according to the train booking. High-speed train to Milan (3 hours approx). Arrival in Milan and accommodation at the hotel. Overnight in Milan.

 

DAY 02: MILAN - SANREMO - MONTECARLO - NICE

Pick up at 8.30 am in the Starhotel Ritz, Via Spallanzani 40, Milan. Departure to Sanremo, defined as the city of flowers and sun, is known all over the world for the Italian Song Festival. Its economy is based on flower farming and tourism. This little town of Riviera of Ponente (West Riviera), offer many possibilities of entertainment like beaches and promenades. Its famous Casino is situated on the top of the most elegant street in the town, where you can find shops of clothes and many others. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon, continue to Monaco. You can see the strong influence of Liguria in this city dominated by Grimaldi prince's palace. Visit through the narrow streets of the center to take picture of the Aquarius, and the Cathedral in which princess Grace was buried. Then, a short route around the city of Montecarlo, famous everywhere for its characteristic Grand Prix. You can observe the futuristic Palace Grimaldi Forum and probably the most important European casino. Continue to Nice. Overnight in Nice.

 

DAY 03: NICE - ST. RAPHAEL - ST. TROPEZ -  ESTEREL COAST - NICE

Breakfast at the hotel. Full day of excursion around the French Riviera. First, visit of St.Raphael and St. Tropez, famous both for their beaches but especially for a great number of stars who spend their holidays in the neighborhood. Free time for lunch. Back to Nice, through the Esterel Coast, best known as Corniche d'Or, due to its wonderful panorama. Small beaches but also great peaks and rocks surround a clear and shining sea. Overnight in Nice.

 

DAY 04: NICE - ST. PAUL DE VENCE - GRASSE - CANNES - NICE

Breakfast at the hotel. Depart for St. Paul de Vence. This is a small medieval village, still presents the old wall, built by Frank I in 1537; Chagall and Prévert have spent many years of their artistic career here. Grasse is famous for the production of perfumes but also presents a nice inner city, with Hotel de Ville and Notre-Dame Cathedral. Free time for lunch. Continue to Cannes, probably the most modern town of the district: beach resort, place of many cultural events, as the Film festival, celebrated in the middle of May. Back to Nice. Overnight in Nice.

 

DAY 05: NICE – MILAN - ROME

Breakfast at the hotel. Free morning in Nice. Then, depart to Milan with a stop in a typical village to have free time for lunch. Finally, the arrival in Milan. Transfer to the train station. High-speed train back to Rome. End of the tour.
